EMERGENCY BACKPACK FOR CIVILIANS IN CASE OF COMBAT: BACKPACK, CLOTHES, EDC.

AUTHOR: MAX POLGIN

We continue to discuss the emergency suitcase in case of hostilities. And in this part, we will talk about what kind of backpack to choose for TP, why you need emergency clothing, and whether EDC can be part of TP.

1. Choosing a backpack

If we proceed from the criteria described in the previous part, we will need a tourist backpack with a volume of 40-60 liters, civilian color (blue, yellow, orange, purple, etc.). Choose a specific volume depending on your dimensions, configuration and weight of the set. Camouflage, coyote, olive, khaki are definitely prohibited. Black or gray are compromise options.

It is desirable that it is a used, worn, slightly soiled backpack with signs of repair – so it will cause less envious glances. At the same time, it must remain reliable. I recommend getting used backpacks from good brands like Deuter or Osprey.

A filled backpack should not look overloaded, stuffed full. First, it will attract less attention, and secondly, you will have room to equip it if necessary, replenish food or clothing.

It is advisable to exclude external weighting of the backpack – at a minimum, it will cling to the branches less and less, and you will not lose it. It is clear that this does not apply to such bulky things as a caremat.

2. Disturbing clothing

This is a set of clothes and shoes that you will wear in the event of an emergency evacuation. Of course, your everyday clothes can also play their role, if they meet the following criteria:

comfortable

strong

has a civilian appearance

imperceptible

corresponds to the weather conditions

You can stuff the items included in the emergency kit into the pockets of these clothes in advance: a knife, a flashlight, a pack of tissues, a small amount of cash, etc.

3. EDC

EDC may well be part of your emergency kit, as long as it’s not scattered around in different pockets/bags, etc., but in one place. For example, I keep my EDC kit in a banana belt bag. Accordingly, in an emergency, I grab a banana, a backpack and go.

In the next, last part, we will talk about what exactly should be in an emergency backpack and how to organize them better.
