A reliable alarm system, a contract for security with a proven company and a special safe room are the minimum I recommend to clients who do not have physical security at home, but want to ensure the preservation of material values and the safety of people at the facility.
Let’s imagine an ordinary situation with a non-trivial solution. Night. You and your family sleep peacefully in your private home. You wake up to the sound of broken glass, grab yourself, and meet the housekeeper in the kitchen. Is he alone or not? If their is a group, where are his accomplices at this moment? Are they armed, for what purpose did they break into the house? Agree, in such a scenario, the situation will be left to its own devices, and the future of you and your family will depend on the intentions of the robbers and accidents.
Losing control is the worst thing that can happen in a situation like this. To prevent this from happening, you should take care of preventive measures in advance.
The first such measure is to install an alarm not only in the house, but also in the surroundi ng area: motion sensors, breaking glass, opening and burglary, sirens, video cameras, etc. A light and sound alarm that has worked will transmit information to the security control panel, destabilize criminals, and for people in the house, will serve as a signal to evacuate to a safe place. As you understood, in addition to the fact that this whole complex of technical measures must work properly, it must be connected to the control panel of a security company you trust. About what I put in the concept of “trust in the security company” a little later. And while the siren is working, the lights are flashing, the emergency response team receives the alarm, the criminals change their plans based on the situation. You and your family, if fire self-defense was not planned, evacuate before the arrival of the security team to the so-called safe room, which will be the second measure in your defense scenario.
The concept of a safe room differs depending on the customer’s requirements and purpose. It can be used for shelter from war, looting, magnetic and radioactive radiation, man-made disasters, etc. It is also important to take into account the period for which the stay in it is calculated. In addition to the fact that such safe rooms are very expensive to manufacture, their availability is primarily laid down in the construction project of the house. However, it is possible to create such a room in an already built house or apartment. Of course, its installation will also entail considerable financial costs, and it will almost certainly not be possible to equip it completely autonomously from the house with the highest class of protection. But in this situation – to limit the access of criminals to the residents for the time it takes for security and police to arrive – such a room will be effective.
The third measure, without which all the previous ones simply lose their meaning – concluding a contract with the security firm you trust and whose actions you are sure of. You must clearly understand how quickly they will come to you, who will come and how they will act.
First, agree on the acceptable time of arrival of the mobile group – the period of time during which nothing bad will happen to you and your family. Secondly, in the event of a call, you must give the security guard access to the home: at a minimum, the security guard must have the keys to the yard, and if you fully trust a particular security company, then they may have the keys to the house. In this case, the client’s keys are in a special sealed safe. When the alarm button on the facility is activated, the security guards understand that the client is now in real danger to life, the group comes to the call, enters the yard. Accordingly, a normal guard should understand the layout of the yard and the house in advance, which dogs the customer has – to have all the necessary information in order to conduct a rescue operation. Thirdly, when choosing a security firm, you should clearly know who will come to you. It would make little sense for two guards with sticks and gas canisters, who, arriving at the wrong place, would stand outside the yard, call the police and wait for their arrival. Another thing is when you see that trained sports people arrive with at least traumatic weapons, which, by the way, are allowed by security companies. Or they could be security policemen who arrive already armed.
This small set of measures, provided a reasonable and serious approach, will become an effective scheme for protecting your life and your loved ones. And I will not tire of reminding you that in such vital situations it is better to trust professionals.
