Congratulations to Donetsk State Law University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine today on its 60th anniversary and obtaining the status of a university!
Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs begins its history from the Stalin (Donetsk) special secondary school of militia (1961), which was first located in the village of Novozhdanovka, Khartsyzsk district, Stalin region. The first graduation in 1962 was a total of 130 young police officers.
For a long time, the school functioned as a school, gaining invaluable practical experience in training highly qualified law enforcement officers, creating a tradition of persistent acquisition of knowledge, dedicated service, reliability and professionalism.
In 1965, after the relocation of the Donetsk Special Police High School (hereinafter – DSSShM) to the regional center, the formation of an educational institution began, including the construction of a school campus.
The 1970s were a time of establishment of the DSSShM as a leading specialized educational institution in the system of law enforcement training not only for Ukraine, but also for all regions of the former Soviet Union. And this placed a great responsibility on the team, demanding maximum efficiency.
In the period from 1977 to 1989, thousands of worthy soldiers of law and order were trained in the DSSShM, not only for our country, but also for the countries of Asia and Africa. Permission to organize a special course for the training of foreigners has become a kind of recognition of the highest professionalism of the entire teaching staff of the school.
By early 1992, about 300 law enforcement officers had been trained for Congolese, Guinea, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Yemen.
In March 1992, the Donetsk Special Police High School was reorganized into the Donetsk Police School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The date of birth of the higher educational institution is February 8, 1993, when the Donetsk Institute of Internal Affairs (DIVS) was established on the basis of the Donetsk branch of distance learning of the Ukrainian Academy of Internal Affairs and the Donetsk Police School at Donetsk State University. The institute began its development with 3 faculties and 8 departments, which were part of its structure.
There are many bright and sometimes heroic pages in the history of the school. The cadets of the institute (schools, colleges) in different periods provided order and protection of the most important objects after the Chernobyl accident, protected the civilian population from arbitrariness and banditry in the “hot spots” of the USSR in the 80’s and 90’s, provided assistance in liquidation consequences of natural disasters, etc.
In the city of Donetsk, more than 4,000 cadets, students and students from all regions of Ukraine received higher education in all forms of education, and the annual graduation amounted to almost a thousand legal professionals who still work not only in Donetsk region and all corners of Ukraine, but also abroad.
At that time, the Institute was licensed to provide educational services related to higher education at the educational and qualification levels of “bachelor”, “specialist”, “master”. It is recognized as accredited at the III level in the specialties “Jurisprudence”, “Law Enforcement” and at the IV level in the specialty “Jurisprudence”.
The license volume for the direction of training “Jurisprudence” was 1000 people, including full-time education – 550, distance learning – 450 people.
