Last Friday, September 11, the Disciplina practical shooting school organized a shooting competition for 9-15-year-olds living in Zeleny Pol and nearby villages. The event took place as part of a sports festival organized by an active community led by the clergyman of the local church Yuri Getsko.
The revolver shooting competition was held in compliance with all safety rules: each shooter had protective glasses and a personal instructor. Also, the competition was preceded by a lecture on the topic of safe handling of weapons and an overview of professions related to the use of weapons. Then, after a short training on humorous targets, the participants were divided into teams and tested their strength already in competitive conditions. In total, about 35 athletes and four teams took part: Discipline, Lux, Tire and Sahaidachny. The team with the patriotic name Sahaidachny won the championship.
“Demonstrating the correct technique of working with weapons, informing about the principles of its action and consequences among teenagers is an extremely important work right now,” says Dmytro Romaniuk, founder of the Disciplina school: “because Ukraine is at the stage of legalizing weapons, and it is extremely expensive that at that time , when in a few years these children will have the legal right to own weapons, they also possessed the correct culture of handling them.”
Also on this day, a children’s race with a length of 1 km “Kids run” was held. The sports festival ended with awarding the winners and refreshments. All participants received Disciplina branded t-shirts. “For our community, this is an extremely important event for the development of culture, spirituality, and sports,” spiritual mentor Yurii Getsko noted: “I thank our parishioners and everyone who joins in our common work for the glory of God.” Because when we all go together in the same direction: family, school, church and society, then the child receives the right vector of education.”
Yurii Getsko also expressed his gratitude for the organization of the competition to Valentin Kononov, Dmytro Romanyuk, Mykola Melnyk and Olena Donchenko, and also wished those present to remain under the protection of God.
