Returning home from duty, police captain Dmytro Kunert unexpectedly had to resuscitate a man who had lost consciousness in a supermarket.
While at the cash register, the commander of the response platoon of the battalion of the Security Police Department in the Poltava region heard a rumble. It turned out that the store visitor suddenly lost consciousness and fell down. Having run up to the unconscious man, the law enforcement officer did not find any signs of life in him – his pulse was barely felt. So Dmytro immediately began providing first aid.
Realizing that the man may die due to cardiac arrest in the next few minutes, the security policeman turned the man on his side, squeezed his jaw and, freeing his airways, began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. At the same time, the employees of the institution called an ambulance.
Soon the unconscious man’s heart began to work, his breathing evened out and he gradually began to regain consciousness.
– The stressful situation for those around me forced me to act quickly, because a person’s life depended on it. Besides, we were taught this, – noted Dmytro Kunert.
Emergency doctors arrived at the scene in a few minutes and took the victim for professional help.
According to the doctors, the policeman performed resuscitation measures on time and at a fairly high professional level. In situations where the score goes to seconds, any delay could end tragically for the 32-year-old man.
It is reported on the website of the Security Police Department.
